Coach – Kumar Sangakkara
Venue – Sawai Mansingh Stadium
Captain – Sanju Samson
The Rajasthan Royals are one of the inaugural eight teams in the Indian Premier League. The Rajasthan Royals were viewed as a weak team at the start of the IPL, but they ended all rumours and made history by winning the first trophy with outstanding play in the first season. By defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the inaugural season’s final, he won the IPL.
However, the team struggled greatly in subsequent seasons. But in 2013, the team performed better and finished as third. Rajasthan finished fourth out of the eight IPL teams in 2017 and 18 as well. In addition, the team’s performance in 2019 was subpar. Rajasthan Royal made it to the championship game in 2022, but they were unsuccessful.
During the 2013 season, the Rajasthan Royals, one of the founding teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), became involved in a scandal involving spot-fixing. The Delhi Police arrested several players and officials, including three Rajasthan Royals players (Steve Smith, Ankeet Chavan, and Ajit Chandila), on allegations of spot-fixing.
The Rajasthan Royals have made an effort to repair their reputation in the wake of the disgrace of their past, prioritising honesty and fair play as fundamental principles and participating in the IPL with newfound vigour.
