Mayan calendar used by the Mayan civilisation, is one of the oldest system of calendars. Some calculations given in the Mayan calender are in line with the calculations in Mesopotamian almanac. At the time of Maya civilisation, there were two types of Mayan calenders. One of them was known as the ‘Haab’ and consisted of a 260 day cycle. It was later updated and replaced by a 365 day solar cycle based calender. The cycle of Venus was also an important factor in the Mayan calender.
The 12 B’ak’tun cycle which ends on 21st December 2012, is an important event in the Mayan calendar. Many are ignorant about the fact that the end of precession of equinoxes (Vimshottari Dasha) or any such cycle, doesn’t mean the end of the world. Rather, it again starts from 0 leading to 1. 21st December 2012 is not doomsday, states Ganesha.
The planetary positions on 21st December 2012, will be as follows:

Moon in Pisces
Mars in Capricorn
Mercury in Scorpio
Jupiter in Taurus
Venus in Scorpio
Saturn in Libra
Rahu in Scorpio

Water being the predominant element on this day, there may be a disaster related to water. However, this does not indicate the aforesaid ‘end of the world’.
B’ak’tun means 400 years (each cycle is of 20 B’ak’tuns). The 400 years consist of 144,000 days. According to the calendar we use, 144,000 days means 394 years. Though every B’ak’tun marks the end of something, it also indicates a new beginning. It is very obvious that the change will surprise mankind, but in Mayan astrological predictions, it is nowhere written that when the cycle of 12 B’ak’tuns ends, the world too will end. 12 B’ak’tuns must have ended several times in the past. Had it marked the end of the world, we would not have been here today. Some articles signify that all planets will be in one line on 21st December 2012, which is another hoax. As all planetary orbits are tilted, it is astronomically impossible that all planets align in one line. In the year 2854 A.D., all planets will be quite close to each other. Planetary longitudes may align, but the planetary latitudes would not be same at the same time, clarifies Ganesha.
According to Ganesha, 21st December 2012 is the most important day for human consciousness. It is possible that from this day onwards, everybody’s sixth sense will become much more powerful. Philosophy and religion would become dominant. The ‘not so healthy’ social and personal relationships would end. Venus along with Rahu forms opposition with Jupiter and hence, genuine relationships would become stronger.
The world is not going to end so soon and so easily, says Ganesha. Like the universe took years to evolve, the end too will be equally slow, step by step.
Ganesha explains this in detail: Whatever appeared first on the earth will disappear first. If we recall the lines in Genesis, the first chapter in Bible, they read,
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Genesis 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Genesis 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
Genesis 1:10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Genesis 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Even Hindu shastras agree to the fact that there was nothing at all before this universe. Everything was created later, one by one. As water came first, it will fizzle out first. Water element in the human body indicates emotions. When the hole in the ozone layer widens, Sun’s rays entering the earth’s atmosphere will increase and thus water will start evaporating faster. We are aware that depletion of the Ozone layer has already begun. This is definitely a matter of concern for everyone and everything existing on the earth. As water would evaporate faster, fishes and other creatures depending on water bodies would die out. Obviously, trees would also die, eventually leading to the end of the human race.
Sun is the source of energy and it will be the source of destruction as well. This is why our sages and seers wrote the ‘Gayatri Mantra’ in praise of the sun. Indian and Egyptian cultures followed the ‘Agnihotra’ for the same reason. In Greece, the sun is called ‘Ra’ and in India we call it ‘Surya Devata’. As sun is the source of energy, only the sun would have the power to destruct everything. Ganesha has already explained this with the example of ozone layer to make the concept clear.
Ganesha would like to make it clear that 21st December 2012 indicates positive changes in human consciousness, and nothing besides that.
Humans have witnessed evolution and will witness the end too.
