Dol Gyaras is celebrated as a commemoration of Jalwa Pujan or Surya Puja of Shri Hari, born as Lord Shri Krishna. According to the Hindu calendar, there is a tradition of celebrating Dol Gyaras on the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year i.e. in 2020, Dol Gyaras will be celebrated on 29th August. In some regions, this day is also known as Parivartini Ekadashi or Jaljhulni Ekadashi.
